On May 17, 2019, at the Holiday Inn Hotel, the Roads Association of Macedonia, in cooperation with the Public Enterprise for State Roads of R. Macedonia, and supported by Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje and the Faculty of Civil Engineering at UKIM, held a presentation of the international scientific project: “Application of PMB in Binding Asphalt Layers of Pavement Structures for Heavily Trafficked Roads and Highways.”
In addition to domestic companies BIM AD Sveti Nikole and GD Granit AD Skopje, the project involved the American company DOW and the Czech Technical University in Prague. The presentation was attended by 150 professionals from domestic and international companies in the road construction sector. Speeches were delivered by: Prof. Dr. Goran Mijoski, President of the Macedonian Association of Road Engineers (MARE), Dr. Eng. Petko Krstev, Head of DAU for Europe, Middle East, and Africa markets, Prof. Dr. Darko Moslavac, Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering – Skopje, Prof. Dr. Nikola Jankulovski, Rector of Ss. Cyril and Methodius University – Skopje, Mr. Zoran Kitanov, LL.B, Director of the Public Enterprise for State Roads, Mr. Goran Sugareski, Minister of Transport and Communications of the Government of Macedonia. Presentations related to the international scientific project were given by: Joseph Hamacek (Regional Representative, CIE Infrastructure, DAU Europe), Various technologies for bitumen modification, Prof. Dr. Otokar Vacin (Czech Technical University – Prague, Global Representative for Applied Technologies, DAU Europe), Polymer-modified bitumens with elastomeric thermopolymers and their blends with other polymers, Dr. Eng. Petko Krstev (EMEA Infrastructure Development Manager, DAU Europe), Comparison of different asphalt mixtures with PMB installed on the experimental section of the A1 highway, Prof. Dr. Goran Mijoski (Faculty of Civil Engineering – Skopje), Presentation of the results from the tests on the pavement surface characteristics.
