HISTORY

1957

The beginnings of BIM AD Sveti Nikole date back to 1957 when production of bituminous mixtures started at the Bogoslovec mine.

1962

Production of bituminous waterproofing membranes, bituminous masses, bitumen emulsions and diluted bitumens started in 1962. Since then, the company has operated as an independent organization, achieving continuous growth and development

1977

A new period of the company’s development began in 1977 with the introduction of a completely new plant for producing bituminous waterproofing membranes, supplied by the German company Dr. Reiser. At the same time, BIM AD Sveti Nikole acquired a license from the Swiss company MEYNADIER to produce elastomeric waterproofing membranes. During this period, BIM AD became the first producer of elastomeric waterproofing membranes under the trademark -Bikutop- in former Yugoslavia. That year, several new facilities were launched, including a plant for bitumen oxidation, a plant for packaging industrial bitumen in polyethylene bags, a plant for bituminous masses, a plant for diluted bitumen, as well as plants for pastes, sealants and bitumen emulsions

1988

A significant segment in the development of polymer modified bitumen starts from 1988 when production launch of more new products such as cold paste Bimizol, polymer sealants, masses for joints, Bikumasa-M and many other products

1998

BIM AD made a significant contribution to road construction with the production of polymer-modified bitumen (PmB) for roads, which began in 1998. At that time, BIM was among the first producers of PmB in the Balkan

2013

Driven by the commitment to continuous modernization and growth, we have consistently expanded our production capabilities. In 2013, we undertook the reconstruction and modernization of our existing waterproofing line and PmB production. This upgrade was carried out by the Italian company Boato, alongside the installation of equipment for producing other types of polymer-modified bitumen (PmB) for roads, including Elvaloy.

About BIM AD

BIM AD Sveti Nikole is a factory for the production of bitumen-based waterproofing materials, established in 1957 in Macedonia. The company has an assortment of over 280 different products that are widely used in all segments of the construction industry – both in civil engineering and building construction. The product range includes bituminous waterproofing membranes, polymer-modified bitumen, bitumen mass, diluted and oxidized bitumen, various types of pastes and sealants, bitumen emulsions, bitumen shingles and a number of other specialized products.

According to customer needs, BIM AD also develops special products with specific quality and purpose, fully tailored to particular market requirements.

The company operates a bitumen storage facility with a capacity of 3,500 tons, as well as a closed warehouse for all types of bitumen raw materials and finished products, ensuring high flexibility, operational continuity and timely delivery.

A particularly important component of BIM AD’s strategy is development and innovation.

The company continuously invests in new technologies and in creating products that follow modern market trends and meet the growing needs of the construction industry. Most innovative solutions are developed within its own laboratory.

Innovation is deeply embedded in the corporate culture of BIM AD. The company and its engineers are recipients of numerous recognitions:

In 1994, BIM AD received a Charter for Innovation at the 14th Innovation Exhibition in the Republic of Macedonia;
In 1995, BSc Eng. Stojanche Stojanov, today Chairman of the Board of Directors, received a Diploma for Outstanding Results in the Field of Innovation from the Chamber of Commerce of Macedonia;
In 2005, he was proclaimed Manager of the Year, and in 2014 he received a Letter of Appreciation from the Macedonian Association of Road Engineers (MARE).
In 2019 Mr. Stojanche Stojanov received the prestigious grand award “Creator of the Century” for lifetime achievement in entrepreneurship with a Gold honor – award for Central and Southeastern Europe.
In 2022 he is featured in the Monograph on the key figures and events that marked the last 25 years, published by the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Macedonia.
In 2025 he is featured in the Monograph “Top 500 Leading Contributors to the Development of Sustainable Entrepreneurship and New Economies in Central and Southeastern Europe 2014–2024”

BIM AD holds quality certificates from recognized domestic and international institutions. In 1998, the ISO 9001 standard was introduced. In 2017, the company certified its products in accordance with European standards and obtained the prestigious CE mark, gaining the right to place them on all European Union markets.

In August 2022, BIM AD completed a significant investment in modern facilities for the production of polymer-modified bitumen (PmB) and bitumen emulsions, substantially increasing its production capacity.

As an export-oriented company, BIM AD successfully places most of its production on foreign markets. BIM products have been installed not only throughout Macedonia, but also in Austria, Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Iraq, Libya, the countries of the former Yugoslavia (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia) , Poland, Romania, Russia, Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Israel, and other countries.

In addition to its manufacturing activities, BIM AD Sveti Nikole is also a socially responsible company. It continuously invests in the development of the local community through support of sports clubs, religious buildings, cultural events, scientific papers, seminars, congresses and assistance to people with health and social needs. Through this social engagement, BIM AD confirms its strong commitment to being an active partner in the development of society.
